I have been playing with the Chris 5-Star for a couple of months now. It is the best racquet I have ever played with - and I've played with a few, having more than 400 in my collection!

The Chris 5-Star is incredibly stable, with its convex throat sections, is well balanced and has both good control and power - in other words, it's perfect. This is without question, the most under-rated racquet ever made!

I have two more on the way to me, one brand new and the other in mint condition. I will also be getting a Chris racquet bag that holds three racquets.

I have just bought another three Chris racquets - the Avenger model this time - brand new. I can't wait to see them!

Tina, Also sorry I missed your post. I don't know of this brand or racquet. There were a few aircraft type themes through the 1940's. If it has a leather grip then this sounds about right plus the Dakota (you need to check this ) was produced around 1940. Aircraft experts please reply!!!!

Sorry I missed your question. I am unfamiliar with the brand name you mention, but it may well be a Dayton racquet from the USA. Typically, these sell for $12-$40 depending on condition.
Sounded like an OK price for a metal/ wood combination. Cheers Rod

And unfortunately when the rubber string-holding grommets break (such as due to the rubber becoming brittle with age) you're out of luck if you want to use the racquet again.

I have found one of my dads old racquets, its wooden with what I think are gut strings, Aviator printed in gold on one side and The northland sports works, stalcot india city on the reverse. Its in good condition, but two of the strings are broken, and there is what looks like a screw in the side ! I would love to know its age and where it was manufactured, infact anything about it.

Rod, I knew Mike Maynard in Oregon when he was designing his Air racquet. He bought several Tretorn Steel models that I used at that time from me. They had removable discs that were interchangable. I had only 3 frames, but about a dozen discs! Not sure if he got the idea from Tretorn or simply used them for testing his concept. I have actually used the Fox, Snauwaert, Handler, Chris, and Spin models in tournaments!! All the Best, Greg High
